Doctors Who Perform Fecal Microbiota Transplantations

We are compiling a list of doctors and hospitals around the world who have performed fecal microbiota transplants - the list will grow as more doctors start to use this procedure on their ailing patients.

We would love your help in compiling this list, so a comment with a name of a doctor/physician/medical professional and any information you can give would be very much appreciated!

Please don't try this procedure without qualified medical guidance and advice. It is essential that fecal doners be screened for various diseases including some which are contageous. This is why a list of doctors who are familiar with the procedure is important, so that those of you who feel fecal microbiota transplantation could be beneficial to you can seek out appropriate medical advice.

He has tried all sort of medications, remedies, probiotics, diets, etc...Just to experience relieve for a short period of time and then go back to the same hell. He lives in Topeka, Kansas and I see there is a Dr. close to him. What is the average cost for this type of treatment??

    1. Hi Magry!

I am not sure on the cost of this treatment - it seems to vary significantly, I would imagine that would depend on the doctor and you (or your son) should really contact them to find out that information. It does appear to be much cheaper than other treatment which you mentioned though. I assume he has been diagnosed with clostridum difficile? If so, one or two fecal transplants has close to 100% cure rate and would negate the need for the continuing cost of other treatments you mentioned that appear to not have worked. Has he had a diagnosis of clostridium difficile Magry? Please email me at info@fecalmicobiotatransplant.com

    2. Magry, I live in Wichita, KS. My son is suffering terribly with UC which was diagnosed a couple weeks ago by a biopsy. This is actually his second flare. Last time he lost 20 lbs. and this time we are at a loss of 12 lbs. and still in a flare. He doesn't have the weight to loose. Did you find a doctor in Kansas that did the FMT and were you pleased?

    1. Yes, Sanjay. Run to get one. I also suffered with C diff and had one done. The bacteria was transplanted into my colon via colonoscopy. I know it can be difficult to find a doctor, but don't give up. I had mine done in Houston, Texas. Dr. Herbert Dupont with the University of Texas at Houston is in charge of a clinical trial, that I joined. It gave me back my life.

  13. Hey does anyone know of a doctor in the US or Canada that will perform FMT for Crohns without colitis? It seems the doctors in the US can't do it because of FDA concerns but I am desperate. Also for Crohn's do you NEED recurring treatments?

  14. Does a protocol for Multiple Sclerosis exist ? Prof Borody treated, accidentally and successfully, three wheelchair bounded MS patients. They had concurrently constipation problems.
Are there any other experiences of this sickness treated with FMT?
    Thanks in advance

    1. That's a very good question! I haven't been able to find anything else other than these isolated incidents are cited in a number of other medical papers. I found this which is interesting relating to altered gut microbiome and MS http://nubiome.com/blog/cutting-edge-multiple-sclerosis-research/ . I'll dig a bit further in the next day or two and if I can find anything else I'll post here.

  19. Does anyone know of a Dr. in the San Francisco bay area that could at least consult with my partner who's living with ulcerative colitis. I know that the FDA is banning it unfortunately. We'd be willing to travel anywhere in the US but the west coast would be ideal. Or anyone in the bay area that would be willing to share their story if they've done it themselves. Thanks.

  22. One can also go to clinicaltrials.gov and do a search for FMT. You'll find a list of trials being performed in the US using an FMT. For instance there is one in New York, using and FMT capsule for IBS.

  23. I did a home FMT for IBS. It worked. I researched for over a year before I did my procedure. DO NOT USE the blender method. Homogenize in a ziplock bag. Avoid contact of the sample with air. These bacteria are anaerobic.

  24. What about:
Dr. Paul Froomes (I think he studied under Dr. Borody...)
    Centre for Irritable Bowel Solutions
    Victoria
    Australia

    www.drpaulfroomes.com.au

    FMT page: http://www.drpaulfroomes.com.au/content/view/63/99/

At the bottom of this FMT page, they indicate that they do take overseas patients (unlike Dr. Borody, who no longer does).
